CoThrive is an online community dedicated to helping non-traditional marketers master online tools for community organizing and social networking. 219 GreenConnect Founder Kathy Sipple launched CoThrive in February 2015 and is the primary trainer at this time. Sipple has run her marketing consulting business, My Social Media Coach, since 2009. This project is her effort to make the knowledge she shares with big businesses more accessible to those with smaller budgets, but a willingness to do the work themselves.
Sipple describes CoThrive as equal parts: virtual chamber of commerce “for cool people”, virtual maker space (some members have made their own websites, webinars, podcasts, etc.), salon for idea discussion and new media training ground. “Kind of like a gym for your project or business,” says Sipple. In addition to “virtual office hours” (time Sipple sets aside each week to address member’s technical or strategic questions), CoThrive also hosts webinars. One recent topic offered was Social Media for Environmentalists. A free replay of a five 1-hour sessions is available here.
Not sure if CoThrive is right for you? You can try it free for 30 days before deciding. After that it’s just an affordable $30/month. Some members donate time and talent in lieu of paying the membership fee; if budget is an issue, arrangements can usually be made for those willing to pitch in and make the community a better place.
