Since January 2011 Kathy Sipple and Abby Corso have organized and co-hosted monthly Green Drinks events to provide social networking opportunities for people interested in environmental and sustainability issues in Northwest Indiana. The meeting is usually held on the third Monday of each month at Cornucopia Coffee in Valparaiso, but is subject to change due to special events, speaker availability and/or conflicts with holidays. Brian Cretton: Permaculture 101, a summary of key learnings he derived from his studies at Midwest Permaculture and UC-Santa Cruz.


Dan Plath, Founder of The Northwest Indiana Paddling Association (NWIPA) presented “Blueways Stewardship” and updated us on some of the group’s recent initiatives and achievements.


Tracy Hall, Northwest Indiana’s first NABCEP Certified Solar Photovoltaic Installer™, presented on solar energy.


Jennifer Birchfield, Water Program Director with Save the Dunes, updated us the group on several news items and initiatives, but focused on the Salt Creek Watershed/Thorgren basin project in Valparaiso.


Therese Davis, Executive Director from the Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County presented“Recycling Is No Joke”

“Everglades of the North: Grand Kankakee Marsh” Documentary Preview. Local film maker Pat Wisniewskifrom For Goodness Sake Productions and the rest of her production team led and Q&A session about the upcoming film.
Attorney Kim FerraroHoosier Environmental Council (HEC) Director of Water and Agriculture Policy, and former Executive Director of the Legal Environmental Aid Foundation (LEAF) spoke about the recent HEC/LEAF merger.
