The Porter County Chapter, joined forces with the Lake County Fish & Game Protective Association to endorse and promote the “Upland Water Storage” (UWS) Resolution for the Little Calumet River.
The UWS Resolution became incorporated into the Indiana State Statute that now authorizes the Little Calumet Basin Development Commission to finance upland wetland reconstructions for the purposes of holding water back in wetlands during high rain periods to reduce flooding risks downstream; better filter runoff; and, provide additional recreational opportunities throughout the watershed.
