When your Christmas tree has outlived its useful life at your house, don’t trash it, burn it in your fireplace or dump it in the lake. Give it a new life by recycling it.
With the exception of Merrillville and Winfield, all communities in Northwest Indiana offer curbside recycling. That means all you have to do is put your live tree out and wait for pickup. Later, many places let you pick up mulch for your yard in return, either for a small fee or for free.
