Valparaiso, Ind. – Registration has begun for the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County spring rain barrel workshops that aim to help Porter County residents learn more about the benefits of rain barrels, how to use them, and proper location and installation.

Five workshops are scheduled for 6 p.m. on the following dates: March 4, Woodland Park Blue Spruce Room, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage; March 5, 6, 12 and 13, Sunset Hill Farm County Park Interpretive Center, 775 Meridian Road, Valparaiso. Each workshop is limited to 35 attendees. Register online via the district’s website www.itmeanstheworld.org.

The $50 cost of the workshop includes a rain barrel with spigot and linking and overflow fitting. Additional rain barrels can be ordered at the time of registration. Pre-registration and advance payment is required for each workshop.

Participants must plan to attend the workshop in a vehicle large enough to bring home their 55 gallon rain barrels. For further information, contact the Recycling and Waste Reduction District at 465-3819 or info@itmeanstheworld.org.

The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County is a government agency dedicated to improving the environment and quality of life for Porter County residents by providing convenient, voluntary waste reduction programs. The district promotes environmental stewardship among individuals and businesses through education programs, waste reduction services and other outreach programs to meet the statutory waste reduction goals set by the State of Indiana.
