The Calumet Stewardship Initiative (CSI) is a coalition that promotes a sustainable relationship between people and nature in the Calumet region of Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois. CSI envisions a Calumet region marked by vibrant communities and cultures, healthy natural areas, and a strong economy.
More than 40 member organizations include local, state, and federal agencies, large conservation organizations, cultural and education institutions, volunteer groups, municipalities, corporations, and faith-based groups. Under the CSI umbrella, members collaborate in three primary areas: land stewardship, environmental education, and smart growth. Through these approaches to local challenges, members work together to cultivate lifelong stewards and advocates for the protection of nature and quality of life in the region.
CSI members offer a variety of activities to connect individuals, families, school groups, and organizations to the landscape of the region. Check our events listing to get involved.
